Croatia  went through a penalty shoot-out to eliminate Brazil in the 2022 World Cup quarter-finals , Education City Stadium, Friday, December 9, 2022. Score 0-0 for 90 minutes, changed 1-1 after 120 minutes, and ended 4- 2 for Croatia to win in the penalty shootout.

As predicted, Brazil appeared far more dominant in this match. Croatia chose to play defensively, but was able to threaten counterattacks.


Although many opportunities were created, the game ended goalless in 90 minutes of normal time. Continuing into extra time, Neymar had brought Brazil ahead (105 + 1'), but Croatia was able to equalize through the action of Bruno Petkovic (116').
